In each of us, we can make glucose. When we ate the food and chewed it in our mouth, the starch in the food was affected by the amylase in the saliva and started to turn into glucose, so we felt the sweetness. Starch enters the gastrointestinal tract and is subjected to enzymes produced by the pancreas. It undergoes saccharification: after being absorbed by the blood in the wall of the small intestine, it is delivered to the body as a nutrient. Ordinary human blood often contains one thousandth of glucose. In our body tissues, oxygen absorbed by glucose and lungs undergoes moderate oxidation, and heat is generated to maintain body temperature and the energy required for activity, and is decomposed into water and carbonic acid gas itself. The remaining glucose will also move through the liver.
