Moore Flanders, a major work by British novelist Daniel Defoe, shapes the image of a homeless woman. In this work, Defoe portrays the struggle of lonely individuals for survival in a desolate setting, with the keenness and conscience of a writer. It not only inspires readers to think about their moral values, but also provokes reflection on religion. The novel is full of materialism, Christian modernity, freedom of speech and blasphemy, reflecting the characteristics of the times. This article explores these core issues of Christian secularization from both social and personal aspects.
