小果型西瓜也称小西瓜或袖珍西瓜,它是普通食用西瓜品种中果型小、果皮薄、果实含糖量较高的一类品种。正常果实平均单瓜重一般约为1～2千克,瓜皮的厚度不超过半厘米,果实含糖量一般在11％以上。目前生产上已经应用的通过国家农作物品种审定的优良品种有:“红小玉”、“黄小玉”、“小天使”、“雪峰小玉红无籽”等。生产中表现比较好的还有:“金玉玲珑”、“早春红玉”、“黑美人”、“特小凤”等。
