数学按其研究的对象和方法而言,精确性是它的重要特征,因此,在数学教学中特别强调科学性是至关重要的,也就是说,在数学教学中概念必须准确无误,论证必须明确严谨。然而,数学理论又是一个具有严密逻辑性的概念体系,离开丁教材本身的系统性去谈论所谓科学性是没有什么意义的,因为科学性是寓于系统性之中的.遗憾的是,孤立地、片面地割裂教材的整个体系,去断章取义地奢谈科学性的现象,在教学活动中却屡见不鲜。
