“西方马克思主义”,作为20世纪二十年代以后广泛流行于西方资本主义国家的一种特定的社会思潮,与正统马克思主义有着极其复杂的微妙关系。这一社会思潮的基本特征,从其深层蕴涵来看,是试图依据现代西方资本主义发展的新特点,出现的新情况。以各种不同的理论观点,从社会文化的层面和基本理论上“修正”、“补充”和“改造”马克思主义,从而“重新发现”和“重新建构”马克思列宁主义。作为这一整个社会思潮重要组成部分的西方马克思主义美学,也具有这种鲜明的特点。西方马克思主义美学在西方各国的代表人物,其成分构成极其复杂。由于各自的出身经历和所信奉的人生哲学有别,各自所持的理论观点也不一致。对于整个西方马克恩主义美学,笔者不想作全面、系统的评述, As a specific social trend of thought widely popularized in western capitalist countries since the 1920s, “Western Marxism” has extremely complicated and delicate relations with orthodox Marxism.
