Pork and chicken are the staple meat in China, with the output and consumption at the forefront both at home and abroad. In terms of production, according to statistics from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), pork production in China reached 52,733,000 tons in 2013 and average annual output was 30,614,637 tons in 1978-2013, ranking first in the world.
