In recent years, with the rapid development of Beijing’s expressway construction and construction industry, the amount of concrete used increases and the shortage of coarse aggregates in cement concrete accompanies. In addition, due to the large amount of mines in Beijing, the iron ore tailings piled up countless blocks of waste dumps not only occupy a large amount of land, but also pollute the environment, posing a heavy economic and environmental burden to the iron and steel enterprises. With the gradual reduction of crude and fine aggregate resources and the enhancement of people’s environmental protection awareness, the contradiction between supply and demand of natural sand and stone has become increasingly prominent. China advocates green concrete and takes the path of sustainable development. The introduction of iron tailings gravel used in bridge construction of concrete works is to save resources and protect the environment a heavy way, and can produce huge social and economic benefits. Combined with the project of Jing Cheng (Phase III) expressway, the application of iron ore tailings in concrete construction is discussed.
