应用SHRIMP锆石U-Pb测年方法,对内蒙古宁城道虎沟生物群和辽西凌源热水汤地区含蝾螈类化石层上、下火山岩进行了定年研究.测年结果表明,道虎沟生物群(岩系)最年轻年龄为164~152Ma,最老年龄为168Ma.综合研究表明,宁城道虎沟生物群与凌源热水汤一带含蝾螈类化石层属于同一生物群(时代),发育于168~152Ma的中侏罗世晚期-晚侏罗世早期.研究区道虎沟生物群(岩系)为正常产状的火山-沉积序列,底部平行不整合在下伏九龙山组之上,顶部为土城子组或早白垩世含热河生物群岩系平行或角度不整合覆盖.道虎沟生物群(岩系)及相关地层对比冀北-辽西地区髫髻山组或是它的相变产物.髫髻山组(道虎沟生物群)化石组合和综合研究表明,它们和热河生物群不是同一生物群,更不是代表热河生物群最早的生物记录,道虎沟生物群及岩系与义县组是不同时代和构造演化阶段火山-沉积旋回的产物.
