In mid-September 1904 H. H. Hosie, British Consul General in Chengdu, visited Batang, Sichuan. The diary he wrote provides more objective evidence to understand the causes of Batang, Dinglin Temple, and the “Fengshan death in 1905” (Batsumi Spring) at that time. During the stay in Batang, the new minister in charge of helping Tibet made a full stopover during the stay in Batang. The proposal to limit the number of Lamase monasteries was “Xuan Wen border despised.” Dinglin Temple rebounded strongly. In addition, A bloody conflict, Fung all killed, is “B Patong all deaths.”
