中国共产党优秀党员,发展经济学奠基人,经济学一代宗师,我国卓越的经济学家、杰出的教育家,中华外国经济学说研究会名誉会长、湖北省首届“荆楚社科名家”、“华中科技大学终身成就奖”获得者、华中科技大学经济学院名誉院长兼经济发展研究中心主任、教授、博士生导师张培刚先生,因病医治无效,于2011年11月23日14时在武汉不幸逝世,享年98岁。先生1913年7月10日出生于湖北黄安(今红安)。1934年毕业于武汉大学经济系,随即被选送到前中央研究院社会科学研究所从事农业经济调查
