Objective To understand the working conditions of cancer survivors who have been in treatment for more than one year in five counties of Shandong Province and explore the factors that affect their continued work. Methods A total of 1 003 cases of breast cancer (female), lung cancer, intestinal cancer and gastric cancer survivors from 2011 to 2013 were collected from 5 cancer registration reports of different counties in Shandong Province. Results The final sample that meets the requirements of this study was 664 cases. 24.7% of the survivors can still keep the original work, 34.3% reduce the working hours and 41.0% can not work at all. The multivariate Logistic regression analysis shows that the elderly people over 65 years old (P = 0.022) P <0.05). In the advanced stage (P = 0.016), survivors whose family annual income was more than 50,000 yuan (P = 0.005) before the diagnosis were more likely to not work at all. Conclusions 41.0% of cancer survivors in this study were unable to continue their work. The main influencing factors included age, stage of illness, family income and education level.
