I now said in the press: It is no news for everyone to learn Mandarin. As early as twenty-five years ago, I once organized a teacher training mandarin rotation class in Heilongjiang Province. Over the years, the motherland set off a vigorous mandarin movement. In recent years, as a result of the 1997 issue, there are more and more people speaking Putonghua in Hong Kong. With the close relations between China and Britain, with the visit of Queen Elizabeth to China, there are also increasing delegations of delegations and cultural and academic exchanges visiting China from China. In order to communicate with each other, British compatriots in Hong Kong are in urgent need of learning Mandarin. I remember, when I was secretary of Hong Kong Christian Lutheran Church, I often accompanied some foreign pastors to preach. They preach to the Chinese in Mandarin, and I want to translate in Cantonese. Foreigners can speak fluent Mandarin, but Chinese people do not understand their own language. Can not forget In 1968, I founded ’Mandarin Center’ in Cambridge, England and taught some foreign students to learn Chinese (Mandarin). One professor from the United States (who is also one of the Mandarin mandarins) told me one thing: An educated college student in Hong Kong studied in the United States and later won a doctorate, an expert , Please go to China to give lectures, can speak Mandarin, speak Cantonese
