湖北苗语以宣恩小茅坡营苗语为代表，属汉藏语系苗瑶语族苗语支湘西方言中的西部土语，在语音、词汇和语法上具有一定的特点。在使用上具有重视内部交流和传承；兼语的开放性及沉重的语言自卑心理特征。
Hubei Miao language is represented by Miao language of Xiaopo Camp in Xuan’en, which belongs to the western soil language in Miao-Yao language Miao language branch of the Sino-Tibetan language family. It has certain characteristics in pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. In the use of attention with emphasis on internal communication and heritage; both language and open language heavy psychological inferiority complex.
