上海材料研究所成立于1946年,至今已整整五十年了。五十年来,特别是新中国成立后的四十多年来,上海材料研究所结合我国社会主义经济建设发展的需要,在新材料的研究、开发和材料应用技术的研究方面做出了重要贡献。与此同时,上海材料研究所的理化检验技术在全国行业中也极具影响,在我们祝贺上海材料研究所五十周年所庆之际,本文谨就上海材料研究所的化学分析工作者们在我国金属化学分析发展中所发挥的作用做一简要回顾。 一 起点与开端 上海材料研究所的前身成立于1946年10月,成立伊始即派三人用10万美元前往美国购置理化检验仪器设备及试剂用具,并接受技术培训。所购仪器设备在当时来说都是比较先进的,当时的理化检验工作人员,多是毕业于三、四十年代的大学生。但是,这些人员和仪器设备,真正能发挥作用还是在1949年新中国成立以后。 1 最早的全国钢铁理化检验委员会成员 中华人民共和国建国初期,钢铁、机械等行业均辖于重工业部,重工业部于1950年召开了全国钢铁质量会议,为了提高钢铁质量,会议决定成立钢铁理化检验委员会。委员会由三十位相关的著名专家学者组成,其中上海材料所有两位,周宗祥先生是其中之一(周先生曾于1922～1929年留学德国并获博士学位),当时周先生任上海材料所副所长兼化学室负责 Shanghai Institute of Materials was founded in 1946, has been a full 50 years.
