Concrete, theoretically added to 25% water, is solidified. However, in practice, 60% of water is often added to facilitate mixing and pouring. These excess moisture become a cause of cracks and degraded quality when the concrete is dry. Kyushu University in Japan successfully researched new construction methods without water when mixing. The advantage is that it can prevent cracks, segregation and condensation in the room. This new type of concrete is called “FASC concrete.” It is in ordinary cement, adding quantitative fine sand, and then adding artificial light aggregate with a diameter of about 2 cm, with many small holes to replace the gravel, mixing and stirring. Because in the artificial lightweight aggregate, the necessary water has been absorbed beforehand, and after stirring, the cement can gradually fuse with its moisture and solidify.
