Background: There is growing evidence that mental health affects health. The method of assessing mental status is appropriate for the population being studied. The SpREUK questionnaire was designed to better study how chronic patients in secular societies perceive the health effects of mental factors and how they treat the disease. PURPOSE: This article describes the background and psychometric capabilities of the SpREUK questionnaire, which may be applicable to patients living in secular societies, and summarizes the validation results in German patients. DESIGN AND TRIALS: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 496 patients with chronic conditions (84% of chronic pain, 6% of cancers and 10% of other diseases) of mean age (53.5 ± 14.4 years) The test is done by yourself Outcome Measures: We aimed to design a reduced version of the SpREUK questionnaire (SpREUK-SF10) and to examine its factor structure and its validity. The questionnaire was also used to measure SpREUK-P, life satisfaction (BMLSS) and understanding of the disease (IIQ). Results: This questionnaire has good psychometric properties and distinguishes between three psychological factors, namely: (1) belief; (2) spiritual / religious support; and (3) positive understanding of the disease. Among them, the positive understanding of the disease and the belief and seek support have some relevance, revealing its spiritual connotation. Conclusion: The SpREUK-SF10 Questionnaire has a better assessment of the mental factors of people in secular societies that are not a single believer or oppose a religion. The questionnaire suitable for other cultural backgrounds has yet to be further studied and developed.
