著名的社会活动家、杰出的爱国宗教领袖、中国共产党的亲密战友,原全国政协副主席、民进中央名誉主席、中国佛教协会会长,我们敬爱的赵朴老逝世已经一周年了。他在1996年所书的遗嘱中说,他的遗体,“凡可以移作救治伤痛者,请医师尽量取用。用后,以旧床单包好火化,”“不留骨灰”。这是多么崇高的志节和磊落的胸襟啊。朴老的夫人陈邦织同志遵从他的遗愿,向中央统战部、中国佛协等有关部门提出了在东海撒放赵朴老骨灰的想法。中央统战部立即召集全国政协民族宗教委员会、民进中央、国家宗教局、国务院机关事务管理局以及中国佛协等有关部门协商研究,制定方案,并与上海方面联系,征得了中共上海市委、市政协、市佛协、民进上海市委和东海舰队海军基地等18个单位的全力协助,对赵朴老骨灰撒放事宜做了精心的安排。
