The recurrence rate of osteosarcoma after amputation was reported by different people, with a low of 3-4% and a high of 16%. The latter may confuse local recurrence with stump bone metastases. The authors reported 248 high-grade (grade 3-4) osteosarcomas treated with amputation or disarticulation, and 13 (5.2%) had local recurrence. The recurrence time was from 2 months to 7 years after surgery, with an average of 12 months. Recurrence can be widespread violations of bone and soft tissue, or limited to bone or soft tissue, the latter easy to diagnose with X-ray photographs. For locally reoccurring tumors, surgical treatment should be used as much as possible. Radiation therapy can relieve symptoms but has a poor prognosis. Eleven patients died in this group, and the average survival time after relapse was 8 months. The reason for the recurrence may be: the amputee plane is too close to the tumor; tumor
