The dried root of Rosa multiflora Thunb.contains β-sitosterol,2α,19α-dihydroxy-ursolicacid 1,and 2ct,19α-dihydroxy-ursolic acid-(28-1)-β-D-gluconolactone,or rosamultin.The prepara-tion of Radix Rosae Multiflorae contains 32% oftriterpenic acid and 4% of catechin.The effectof Radix Rosae Multiflorae in reducing serumcholesterol and triglyceride was noted in a clinicaltrial done in our Institute in 1976.A compara-tive study of this drug with clofibrate and hexani-cotol was carried out in 1981-82 with the follow-ing results.
