Beryl Fletcher’s Feminist Trilogy focuses on exploring new forms of narrative. First, Fletcher’s imprint has a strong sense of self, distinct from the commentaries of Fields and Eliot and the storytellers of Hemingway and Steinbeck. Secondly, Fletcher incorporates the narrative of the movie, gives the narrator the right of speech and vision, and realizes the new presentation of the stream of consciousness. Finally, she constructed an aesthetic triangle with multiple narratives, enabling the narrator to move toward authority in the dialogue. Fletcher’s narrative exploration is essentially a parody of fictional reality in the realist tradition. Female narrators eventually construct their own authority from powerlessness to self-empowerment.
