雅俗之辨是文化之分。先秦时期,雅俗对立突出体现在雅乐与俗乐的对立上。两汉时期,雅与经学相联系,雅俗之辨被赋予政教意义。魏晋时期,雅俗对立开始获得文化意义,《世说新语》是雅文化成立的信号和象征,后世雅文化的各种因子皆萌芽于魏晋风度之中。雅是知识分子的文化追求,庄子哲学推动了雅俗对立,完成了从政教意义到文化意义的历史性嬗变。雅文化和俗文化经历了磨合、融合的历史过程,雅俗之辨成为《儒林外史》中隐性的价值评价体系。
The distinction between elegant and vulgar is cultural. During the pre-Qin period, the contradiction between elegance and vulgarity was reflected in the opposition between elegant music and popular music. Han dynasty, Ya and the classics are linked, the distinction between elegant and vulgar was given the significance of the Church. The Wei and Jin Dynasties, elegant and popular opposites began to gain cultural significance, “Shi Shuo Xin Yu” is the symbol of the establishment of Ya culture and symbolism, the various elements of later Asian culture are budding in the Wei and Jin demeanor. Ya is the cultural pursuit of intellectuals, Zhuangzi philosophy promoted the contradiction between elegant and vulgar, and completed the historical transmutation from the significance of the state and religion to the cultural significance. Accor culture and vulgar culture have undergone a historical process of running in and blending, and the distinction between elegance and vulgarity has become the implicit value appraisal system in The Scholars.
