Objective: To investigate the relationship between the level of blood glucose and the prognosis in the acute stage of stroke. Methods: A total of 120 acute stroke patients were divided into two groups based on the fasting blood glucose level: normal blood glucose group and high blood glucose group. The European Stroke Scale (ESS) and outcome were compared between the two groups. Results: The ESS score of hyperglycemia group was significantly lower than that of normal blood glucose group (P <0.001), while the adverse outcome rate was higher than that of normal glucose group (P <0.01). Conclusion: The early stage blood glucose level in patients with acute stroke is closely related to the severity of the disease. Hyperglycemia can increase the adverse outcome rate of patients and affect the prognosis of stroke.
