As we know(1), most of the snake’s vision(2) is poor. But in the past, their vision was very good. What makes it like this? I will tell you the story.
Long ago, there was a small snake named Huahua. Huahua was good at catching mice, rats were afraid of her.
They wanted to combat(3) with Huahua. On the 999th meeting, the rat king had a good idea...
One day, Huahua was sleeping. Someone knocked at the door.
A postman asked her to take her parcel(4). Huahua took over the parcel excitedly(5).
There was a big box written “Television” on it. Huahua had never seen a TV set before. So she was quite happy. There was also a piece of paper with some words as following:
  Usage Tips:
  1. It’s best to watch it every evening.
  2. Avoid missing the nice TV programs(6), you’d better watch it
more than 12 hours every day.
  3. While watching it, you’d better sit within one metre.
Then Huahua watched TV every day as the tips said.
  Gradually(7), Huahua
felt her eyes hurt. Later, she could not see things clearly.
One day, the old rat appeared(8) in front of her.
The mouse laughed and said proudly, “ Haha! Poor Huahua, do you know how your bright eyes become like this now? Let me tell you—— the TV you got is from us. Our purpose(9) is to make
your eyes blind(10), then you can not see us or even catch us any more.”
Huahua was so angry that she wanted to catch the mouse. But she could not make sure(11) the correct location and just saw a shadow(12). So she failed.
When the mouse was leaving, he said, “Haha! I have completed the task, I’ll go back to take my credit(13). ”
Then he went away. Huahua was very regretful(14).
In this way, Huahua’s vision became very bad, and her descendants(15) have
  inherited(16) it.
