甜高粱提供了酒精生产的再生能源的潜力。由于肥料是重要的非再生能源投资,故养分需要及利用率会影响甜高粱怍为一种再生能源的活力。理论酒精产量随氮吸收量增加而提高。以单位吸收氮的理论酒精产量而计的氮素利用率,随总氮最吸收的增加而下降。甜高粱的理论酒精产量和氮素利用,均比得上其它做生产酒精原料的禾谷类作物。
Sweet sorghum offers the potential of renewable energy for ethanol production. Since fertilizers are an important investment in non-renewable energy, nutrient requirements and availability can affect sweet sorghum as a renewable energy source. Theoretical alcohol production increased with increasing nitrogen uptake. Nitrogen utilization in terms of the theoretical alcohol production of nitrogen absorbed by the unit declined as the total nitrogen absorption increased. The theoretical yield of sorghum and its use of nitrogen are comparable to those of other cereal crops that produce ethanol.
