The boronizing supply agent of a low-priced solid was presented, and the experimental of the boronizing process was studied, microstructure and properties of boriding layer by means of the microstructure observation and hardness testing, as well as the effect of rare earth elements on the boriding process, microstructure and properties of boriding layer were also discussed. The results show that the boronizing supply agent is feasible, the boronizing layer on the surface of steel is continuous, even, no defect is produced, and it can be used repetitively. As a result, RE can increase the rate of boronizing and the hardness of boriding layer, and can also improve the distribution of hardness of boriding layer.
