杰克·伦敦是美国著名的现实主义小说家,其成名作《荒野的呼唤》是一部以狗为主题、通过狗的生存经历来反映美国当时社会现状的长篇小说。作者运用拟人的手法,将自己的愿望和理想寄托在巴克身上,并在其中蕴藏了深厚的哲学思想。本文拟从巴克的主要形象出发,在解读其性格特征的基础上,更好地了解作者的本意,企图揭示当时美国社会存在的各种不公正现象,发出当时美国人民内心深处的真正呼唤与渴望,同时,对于现代社会的良性发展依然有着重要的指导价值与意义。
Jack London is a famous realist novelist in the United States. His fame, Call of the Wild, is a dog-themed novel that reflects the prevailing social conditions in the United States through the dog’s survival experience. The author uses anthropomorphic techniques to place his wishes and ideals on Buck, and contains profound philosophical thoughts therein. Based on the interpretation of Buck’s character, this article intends to better understand the original intention of the author in an attempt to reveal the various injustices existing in the American society at that time and to issue the true call of the American people at the time Desire, at the same time, still has important guiding value and significance for the healthy development of modern society.
