Japanese media said Japan and India are expected to reach agreement on adopting the Shinkansen technology in India’s high-speed railway project and plans to start construction by 2018 and completion in 2023. The matter is confirmed by the Japan-India summit scheduled to be held in Tokyo on the 11th. This will be the fist project for the “package export of infrastructure” planned by the Japanese government in the area of Shinkansen and will be the first to determine a specific construction period. According to Japan’s “Asahi Shimbun” reported on November 9, the Japanese government stakeholders confirmed the news. Starting construction in 2018 will be the western part of the country that connects Mumbai and Ahmedabad for a total length of about 500 kilometers. Japan-India summit in December last year has confirmed that it will adopt Japan’s Shinkansen technology.
