索尔·贝娄继承并发展了爱默生的超验主义思想,是一位后现代新超验主义作家。贝娄持续地书写现代人的生存困境,言说人类的精神需求,赋予其笔下人物以超验的认知方式,让他们超越物质世界,从精神层面认识自我、社会及人生的意义,使其作品具有鲜明的超验主义色彩。但其主人公心灵的漂泊、对传统道德的坚守和对精神家园的追寻又使其超验主义思想有别于爱默生的思想。有鉴于此,本文从自我诉求、道德旨归和家园叙事三个方面来探究贝娄作品中的新超验主义思想。
Saul Bellow inherits and develops Emerson’s transcendentalism and is a new post-modern transcendentalist. Bellow constantly writes about the predicament of the modern people, and speaks of the spiritual needs of human beings. By giving them a transcendental cognitive approach, Bellow lets them transcend the material world and understand the meaning of self, society and human beings from the spiritual level so that their works With a clear transcendentalism. However, the wandering of the hero’s soul, the sticking to the traditional morality and the pursuit of the spiritual home make his transcendentalism different from Emerson’s thought. In view of this, this article explores the new transcendentalism in Bellow’s works from three aspects: self-claim, moral purpose and homeland narration.
