American Indian writer Louise Erdrich is one of the most important native writers in the contemporary American literary world. Influenced by the ancient and mysterious Indian culture and traditional wisdom, the writing of the fate of the tribe and the portrayal of the objective material world have been the core themes of Erdric’s work. Based on ecological criticism, this article explores the Indian traditional view of nature reflected in it, and further proves the close relationship between environmental crisis and the fate of characters in the novel, revealing the author’s overall ecological outlook and ecological mission. Finally, it is proposed that only by removing anthropocentrism prejudice from the ideological and cultural roots and using the rich ecological wisdom in the traditional Indian culture, can we realize the harmonious development of human beings.
