上海市徐汇区档案馆于1963年8月成立,为徐汇区委、区政府直属的文化事业机构。一徐汇区档案馆建馆以来,馆内基础业务建设工作逐年加强,各项制度和档案科学管理水平也在逐步完善和提高。尤其是邓小平同志南巡讲话后,在更新思想、转变观念、顺应改革的大势方面做了些尝试,拓宽了档案业务领域,不断适应经济建设的需要,促进了档案馆事业的发展。区档案馆于1992年11月评定为上海市二级先进档案馆。现已有馆藏档案107个全宗,共66018卷,排列长度为954.20米。其中文书档案37907卷,专业档案28109卷,声像档案2409盒(张)。档案的起止年代为1937年～1991年。馆藏档案来源于本区区级机关团体及其所属单位。档案进馆后经过分类整理、编定档号、科学管理。档案主要有以下几个方面组成:
