澳大利亚沃尔特伊丽莎医学研究所的研究发现,在肿瘤处于发展过程中时,病灶周围的正常组织会出现发炎状况,并产生许多不同的分子,其中包括两种相关的蛋白质白细胞介素-11和白细胞介素-6。这些激素样信号分子被统称为细胞因子,是促进癌细胞生长和扩散的重要物质。因而阻断白细胞介素-11的信号能在胃癌和肠癌模型中使肿瘤停止生长,并使肿瘤收缩。这将有望为肠癌和胃癌的治疗带来福音。
A study by the Walter Elisa Institute of Medicine in Australia found that normal tissue around the lesion inflamed and developed many different molecules, including two related proteins, interleukin-11 and Interleukin-6. These hormone-like signaling molecules are collectively referred to as cytokines and are important substances that promote the growth and spread of cancer cells. Thus, blocking IL-11 signaling stops the tumor from growing in the gastric and colorectal models and shrinks the tumor. This is expected to bring good news for the treatment of bowel and stomach cancer.
