【Abstracts】This study focus on the western culture embodied in cartoon movies.The main object is to help readers to know the characteristics of western culture through cartoon movies.With the enjoyment to the western cartoon movies，I discuss the definition of western culture.American culture is a representation of western culture，and there are many western culture elements in American culture，so I will mainly talk about American culture.And then，this thesis discusses some good cartoon movies，the incarnation of the western culture through them.The language，activities，and architectural style in cartoon movies show the American cultures well.People could have a better understand about their characteristics while enjoying the interesting，colorful，winning cartoons.

I.Introduction
According to the embodiment of western culture in every field，movies are the best way to show its culture kernel.Through the movies，the western culture can be incarnated in other filed，and have spreaded wildly，help people learn its meanings.
Cartoon is a part of movies.It is every excellence，and it’s easy for people to understand and accept.Because of the characteristics of cartoons，people can learn the meaning of western culture sufficiently，and concretely.People will know the culture characteristics when they enjoying the interesting，colorful，winning cartoons.
In this thesis，American culture is mainly investigated，because America is a multicultural country.If we can understand the characteristics of American culture，we can amplify on the other western countries.
II.A Brief introduction to America Culture
Americans think that，every nation aspires after their own ideal culture.The ideal culture relate to how the people look on their selves，also can relate to the belief of them，what they think of themselves，how the other people look on them.For example，Americans uphold the freedom，fair chances，individualism，economy freedom，fair competition，detest lie，cheat，steal.Every Americans knows what to believe，what to expect，and these are their culture.The real American culture can be traced back to the Frederick Jackson Turner’s “Frontier Theory”.In his discourse The Significance of the Frontier in American History，which was elivered in the conference hold by American Historical Association in Chicago 1983，Turner said that the development of American society was synchronized with western expansion.Western’s experiences were the representative experiences of Americans.We can see that Americans’ tough and hardworking and austerity sprits； the spirit aspire after democracy； the spirit uphold freedom and individuality were figured in west part of American.Of course，this opinion was suffered more people’s censures，because it ignored the American culture’s Europe basics. “American dream” may help us to understand the American culture.Of course，for different kinds of American people，American dream is not exactly the same：dream is to get civil rights legislation，white people who regard family happiness as their dream，Asian descendant people’s dream is to have a rich life； Latino descendant people view legal identity as their dream； the authorities’ dream is to blazon forth the spirits of United States of America to all over the world，low income people’s dream is to increase their income… To some extent，the American dream is pursued by the Americans as a better society，is an inspissations of American culture.
To sum up，American culture has been enriched by the values and belief systems of virtually every part of the word，among which individualism is at the core of the American Culture.Christian religion dominates their ideology，as the race relations to be the basic，as multicultural to be the characteristic，commonalty culture as the domination.
III.How the Cartoon Character Embodies American culture
1.Multiculturalism
（1）From the Language in Cartoon Movies
As far as we know，any cartoon movies can’t exist without abundance language.Cartoon is an art which combines with voice and picture.In the cartoon movies，language requirement is different from other forms of movies； it has its own special requirements and rules.Generally，language in cartoon movies is very interesting and humorous，and absorbing loan words.
For example，in the cartoon movie Garfield，the lovely cat has many interesting quotations.“Money is not everything，there’s MasterCard
