The Tango Sankyo Institute of Architecture in Japan was commissioned in 1982 to design the University of Persia, which will eventually have 8,000 students. The university is co-founded by seven countries in the Gulf region and will set up various specialties such as science, medicine and teacher training. The university is located in Bahrain, the island nation of the Persian Gulf, and is located on a desert of 2 km2, 20 km south of Manama in Bahrain.
