曾挑起亚洲金融风暴的72岁“金融大鳄”索罗斯,最近因为行善成为第二届“代顿和平奖”得主。得奖原因是他捐出巨款,给波斯尼亚地区的人民在战后重建生活,并成立量子基金支持慈善活动。索罗斯目前在许多地方都有捐款。他曾表示,在80岁之前,会将财富全数捐出。这样一个道德高尚的人,怎么会和“面目可憎”的“金融大鳄”完美结合在一起呢?所以中国有记者问他:这是您的天性还是树立形象的需要?索罗斯说:在金融市场,我只是按规则办事,我遵守规则,谈不上道德不道德(见2002年6月27日《南方周末》)。为什么对捐款乐此不疲?索罗斯自己没有回答。但我觉得,这个问题同样无涉 Soros, the 72-year-old “financial predator” who had provoked the Asian financial turmoil, recently became the second winner of the Dayton Peace Prize for doing good.
