Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) affects cardiac remodeling by inhibiting the activation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and plasmin. This article studies the pathological role of PAI-1 in cardiac repair and the expression and localization of PAI-1 in a mouse model of myocardial infarction.
