广东省地方史志编委会副主任、中国地方志协会常务理事兼学术委员黄勋拔教授,于1998年10月7日、14日、22日、27日分别在美国哈佛大学、伯克莱加州大学、史丹福大学以及香港大学各作一场讲座,主题是《中国编修地方志情况述评》,参加听讲的主要是这四间大学的教授、副教授、博士、博士研究生和其他研究人员,附近的大学(如美国的东北大学、塔夫茨大学、香港城市大学等)也有教授前来听讲,其中不少是有名的教授,如哈佛大学的戈德曼(Merle Gold- Guangdong Provincial Local History Editorial Board Deputy Director, China Local Records Association executive director and academician Professor Huang Xubao, on October 7, 14, 22, 27, respectively, in the United States Harvard University, Berkeley, California University, Stanford University and the University of Hong Kong each with a lecture entitled “Commentary on the Revision of the Chinese Local History Records”.
