When President Xi Jinping proposed the Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, few anticipated that it would make such a formidable contribution to the landscape of world economic development. Now, five years later, the initiative has grown wings, with over 100 countries and international organizations coming onboard in pursuit of cooperation and shared benefits.
What is really striking a cord worldwide is the idea of a community of nations and peoples based on cooperation, equality and respect. Ultimately, the joint projects on the ground that are connecting people and improving their daily lives in countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and beyond are proof of its success.
