航天飞机每次飞行时用两个固体火箭助推器提供初始爬升推力,使航天飞机与它的有效载荷从发射台上升到约44公里的高度。发射前,整个航天飞机重量由两个助推器支撑。助推器由固体火箭发动机、支承桁架、推力向量控制系统、分离装置、回收系统、电器与仪表六个分系统组成,全长48.5米,直径3.7米。每个助推器的核心部份是发动机,它是迄今已飞行的最大的固体火箭发动机,而且首次设计成为重复使用的。发动机由11段焊接成四个装药段,装药段在制造厂就地浇注推进
The space shuttle uses two solid rocket booster thrusts each initial flight to lift the space shuttle with its payload from the launch pad to a height of about 44 kilometers. Before launch, the entire space shuttle’s weight was supported by two boosters. Booster by the solid rocket motor, support trusses, thrust vector control system, separation device, recovery system, electrical and instrumentation composed of six subsystems, a total length of 48.5 meters and a diameter of 3.7 meters. At the heart of each booster is the engine, the largest solid rocket motor ever flown and designed for the first time to be reused.
