20世纪50年代,琵琶演奏者们为了适应民族和西洋管弦乐队的需要,将原来琵琶的非半音定品,改为半音定品,并确定了六相二十四品(或二十五品)的形制。由于琵琶音域宽广、转调自如,因此许多人认为它是十二平均律乐器。但是,通过对六相二十四(五)品、南音四相十品等多种多张琵琶定品与音高测算的分析,对琵琶演奏者、制作者的采访,结合琵琶定品与古琴徽位的比较研究,本文认为:琵琶是以半音定品,但半音定品不等于十二平均律;琵琶定品,既有纯律因素,又有十二平均律倾向,还有五度相生律遗留。
