马王堆彩绘是西汉初高帝时代,即公元前2世纪初的产物。马王堆汉墓所在地长沙,从春秋战国开始就是南楚重镇,秦的势力在长沙仅十多年,因此在汉初仍保留了大量楚文化的气息。一、马王堆彩绘的楚文化背景楚文化是周代开始形成的一种地域文化,糅合了东方文化本流和荆蛮文化余绪的一种通俗大众文化。楚国地处南方,气象变化风云莫测,崇山峻岭千姿百态,江流大川奔腾不息,雨水充沛物产丰富。当时由于科学技术和生产能力的落后,人类对大自然的变化感到神秘莫测、茫然无助,为此加深了对自然的崇拜和对神灵的依赖,只能依仗巫术来 Mawangdui painting is the early Western Han Dynasty Gaodi era, that is, the product of the early 2nd century BC.
