There are 22 species of Oryza, including 20 wild and 2 cultivated Oryza species, now named as AA, BB, CC, BBCC, CCDD, EE, FF, GG and HHJJ9 genomes. Oryza officinalis is an important favorable gene pool, which contains resistance genes to various biotic stresses and abiotic stresses. This paper summarized the favorable traits of wild rice and the research progress of favorable gene transfer in wild rice, and discussed the molecular marker localization of wild rice, the genetic mechanism of favorable gene transfer in wild rice and the prospect of favorable gene utilization in wild rice
