中国现代水墨的发展状况陷入到这样一种处境,一部分已经具有现代主义创作经历的水墨创作者试图重新依靠水墨身份争取国际艺术体系下的话语权,而另一部分创作者则又想摆脱局限于抽象性和表现性的现代水墨范式,来实现水墨的当代性。针对水墨创作群体整体上的这种分化,我用钱钟书先生所写的《围城》的一句话“城里面的人想出来,城外面的人想进去”来形容。水墨创作的实际形式恰似进入到这样一种“水墨围城”的状态中,一拨人试图回归传统,另一拨人则革新之前的一切创作理念试图步入当代艺术阶段。

The actual form of ink painting is just like entering a state of “ink city”, a group of people trying to return to the tradition, and the other people are innovating before trying to enter all the creative concepts of contemporary art stage.
