Two new EU environmental directives: the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive and the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (ROHS) have come into force. According to these two environmental directives, from August 13, 2005 onwards, the circulation of the European Union on the market of electrical and electronic equipment manufacturers must bear the legal sense of their own scrap product recycling costs; July 1, 2006 after the launch of the EU market Electrical and electronic products shall not contain 6 hazardous substances of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl ethers. The products covered by these two directives include nearly 200,000 species in 10 major categories, most of which belong to the strong export electromechanical products in Guangdong. The export trade volume of Guangdong electromechanical products to the EU accounts for 20.3% of the export of electromechanical products in Guangdong. Therefore, the direct impact on exports each year Will exceed 200 billion US dollars.
