楚霸王项羽及其“别姬”故事在我国家喻户晓,长期以来成为历代艺术家和各种艺术形式讴歌不尽的主题。仅以歌剧为例,上个世纪80年代就曾有《楚霸王》(金湘作曲,黄维若、李稻川编剧)一剧问世。此次中央歌剧院隆重推出的《霸王别姬》(萧白作曲、编剧,王健编剧、作词),又以正歌剧的形式对这段历史故事做出了新的解读和阐释,并从剧本、剧诗和音乐创作等不同角度提出了一些重要的创作命题,值得加以研究和讨论。
