一、前言 人类要想研究自己栖生的地球,除了研究地内物质外,还要对各种地外物质作深入研究,从而加深对地球特性的认识,诸如它的形成、演化及其元素、生命的来由,等等。截止目前为止,人类所掌握的地外物质主要有三类:一是陨石,它是不可多得的;二是月球岩石样品,只有少数先进国家可以登月采集;三是宇宙尘埃,主要是深海宇宙尘,可以说它是取之不尽,用之不竭。我们曾从一千克太平洋红粘土干样中分离出5.4毫克宇宙球粒,可见深海沉积物中地外物质的含量是比较高的。

We have isolated 5.4 mg of cosmic pellets from one kilogram of Pacific Red Clay dry sample, showing that the extraterrestrial material in deep-sea sediments is relatively high.
