Objective To observe the effects of electromagnetic field (EMP) irradiation with different field strength on learning ability of rats and take some shielding measures to explore its physical protective effect. Methods Forty-five Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: 60 kV · m-1 irradiation group, 20 kV · m-1 irradiation group, physical protection group and control group. Physical protection group Under the shielding, 60 kV · m-1 irradiation was performed, and the control group received the same irradiation time; each group began to train continuously for 8 days after the irradiation, recording daily scores and drawing learning curve. Results After EMP irradiation, the frequency of active avoidance (AV) in 60 kv · m-1 irradiation group was significantly lower than that in control group and physical protection group by 24.1% and 22.4% on the 8th day (P <0.05) AV values in m-1 irradiation group were also lower than those in control group and physical protection group, but the difference was not significant (P> 0.05). The passive avoidance response (ESC) and active avoidance response latency (AVLAT) in 60 kv · m-1 irradiation group were significantly higher than those in control group and protection group on the 8th day (62.7% vs 53.9%, respectively) and 69.7% % (P <0.05). Passive evasive response latency (ESCLAT) between groups was not statistically different. Conclusion EMP irradiation can inhibit the learning ability of rats, showing the lag of conditioned reflex and the prolonged latency of active reaction, and there is a certain dose-effect relationship between the effects of EMP irradiation and EMP irradiation. The effect of EMP on 60kv · m- · The effect of EMP on m-1 field strength is weak; physical protection can reduce the damage effect more effectively.
