Objective To study the inhibitory effect of anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate on adhesion of Staphylococcus epidermidis and explore new research directions and possible therapeutic approaches for the related infections caused by Staphylococcus epidermidis . Methods Erythromycin was used as a positive control. The effect of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate on initial adhesion of Staphylococcus epidermidis was evaluated by XTT reduction method. Results The initial adhesion of Staphylococcus epidermidis was inhibited by sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate at the concentration of 1 000 and 100 mg / L. The experimental material was pretreated with sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate at the concentration of 1 000 mg / L , Staphylococcus epidermidis initial adhesion was significantly inhibited. Conclusion The anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate has an inhibitory effect on the initial adherence of Staphylococcus epidermidis producing bacteria by a certain concentration.
