English unaccusative verbs are a difficult point in second language acquisition and a hot topic in the study of second language acquisition. However, the difference between words is a blind spot in this type of research. This study uses Chinese learners as research objects and uses output tasks and judgment tasks to investigate the differences in lexical meanings in second language acquisition of English convertible nonverbine verbs. The study found that Chinese learners showed significant lexical differences in the acquisition of such verbs. Case analysis shows that Chinese learners mainly learn the usage of break and the intangible usage of sink. Interviews and material corpora search revealed that the main factors that caused the difference between break and sink were verb semantics and relative frequencies. Contrary to Kang Xin (2010: 435), this finding supports both “semantic structure theory” and “curing hypothesis.”
