Blood pressure has been shown to decline during sleep, but the extent of the decline has been reported. The authors measured arterial pressure, heart rate, and electrocardiogram directly in 18 patients (6 normotensive, 4 nontreated and 8 normotensive) and recorded for 24 hours in a row. The patients slept at home and remained as usual . Results: The systolic and diastolic blood pressure of 18 cases decreased significantly during sleep. The blood pressure decreased by about 20% during sleep, no matter the daytime blood pressure or the antihypertensive treatment. Blood pressure dropped most 2 hours after falling asleep (only 1 patient at 5 hours). This article reports the hypodermic hypnosis of sleep
