Since the middle and later twentieth century, the social history and sociological perspective play an increasingly important role in the study of music historiography. It has become an important way for music history to break through the confined space of “self-regulation” and make contact with the vast social and cultural context . German musicologist Carl Dalhousie made an important contribution in this regard. Based on the study of the three major musical systems (music associations, choir and music criticism) in German musical culture in the 19th century, this article discusses the class nature, social function and cultural connotation of these specific systems and their significance in 19 The status and effectiveness of the century music history, and then explore the significance of social history research from the perspective of historical methodology.
